    City of Kissimmee Announces Temporary Road Closure for Employee Memorial Service

    The City of Kissimmee announces that Church Street between Dakin Avenue and Monument Avenue will be closed for the City’s Employee Memorial Service on Friday, March 25 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Detour signs will be in place to direct traffic to alternate routes.

    The City of Kissimmee is offering a Counselor-In-Training (CIT) program this summer, for youth going into 9th thru 12th grades. This training program prepares students to assist the summer camp counselors at Camp Discovery and gain job related experience while earning community service hours.

    On March 12, 2016, the City of Kissimmee will be participating in the 2016 Florida Expo, hosted in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Annually, the Florida Expo provides a showroom floor for participating Florida communities to provide information to Puerto Rican’s interested in leaving the island.

    The City of Kissimmee announces its Annual Employee Memorial Service will be held on Friday, March 25th at 10:00 a.m. in front of Kissimmee City Hall. The City of Kissimmee, Toho Water Authority and Kissimmee Utility Authority will all contribute to this program to remember their employees that have passed and honor those that have retired.

    Today, more than 200 volunteers from American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS), the City of Kissimmee, Community Vision and Central Avenue Elementary School along with organizers from KaBOOM! and Kissimmee residents teamed up to build a new community playground at Central Avenue Elementary.

    200 Volunteers Improve Kissimmee Kids’ Lives & Futures with Play

    More than 200 volunteers from American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, City of Kissimmee, Community Vision, Central Avenue Elementary, organizers from KaBOOM! and the community will join forces on Tuesday, March 1, to give area kids the childhood they deserve by building a new playground at Central Avenue Elementary School.

    The City of Kissimmee announces the availability of funds for Program Year 2016-2017 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Public Service projects. There is $83,081 in funding available for this upcoming fiscal year. The funds may be used for various public service activities that principally benefit low- and moderate-income persons.

    City of Kissimmee Announces Road Closures for Oak Street Widening Project

    The City of Kissimmee announces that Oak Street from Vine Street to Lawrence Silas Boulevard will be closed to through traffic starting Monday, February 15th, 2016 thru February 10th, 2017. This northern most portion of Oak Street in the area of the Mill Creek Mall will be open to traffic with various lane closures and lane shirts during the duration of this phased work.

    The City of Kissimmee will display artwork created for the Kenton’s Kowboy Classic 2016 Scholarship Challenge during the month of February. The artwork was created by Osceola County High School students, who competed for eight $500 scholarships.

Artwork created by Haitian born artist Patrick Noze will be on display at Kissimmee City Hall from February 1st thru the end of the month and can be viewed Monday thru Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.

    The City of Kissimmee is hosting a “No School” Youth Field Trip to the Florida Aquarium on Friday, February 19th, as Osceola County schools are closed. The “No School” Field Trip is offered for students ages 5-14 years of age and will take place at the Oak Street Park Community Center from 7:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.
