The City Commission holds its planning retreat each year in January to determine the priorities for the upcoming fiscal year. These priorities are used to help staff to develop a budget for tentative approval in July by the City Commission. The City's fiscal year is from October 1 - September 30.

Upon completing the priorities, a Strategic Plan is developed and published. This plan looks ahead at not only the upcoming year, but establishes a vision for five and 15 years in the future.
