The Kissimmee City Commission relies on Advisory Boards made up of local residents and business members to make recommendations about a variety of City departments and services.

Below is a list of City Advisory Boards, their requirements, and contact information.

BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT
The Board of Adjustment, a resident advisory board appointed by the City Commission, is empowered to determine variances from the terms of the Land Development Code.

  • Seven members appointed by the City Commission for 3-year terms
  • Members must be City residents
  • Hear appeals of Land Development Code Interpretation

CHARTER SCHOOL ADVISORY BOARD

  • Seven members appointed by the City Commission for 3-year terms
  • Must be residents of Osceola County
  • Advise on items pertaining to the Kissimmee Charter Elementary School

FIRE PENSION BOARD

  • Two members appointed by the City Commission and 3 members chosen by employees for 2-year terms
    Advise on Fire Department employees’ pension program

HISTORIC PRESERVATION BOARD
The Historic Preservation Board is a resident advisory board appointed by the City Commission, whose responsibility is to assist with the protection, enhancement, and perpetuation of properties of historical merit and the areas in which they are located.

  • Seven members appointed by the City Commission for 3-year terms
  • Members must be City residents
  • Undertake measures relevant to protection, enhancement and perpetuation of properties of historic merit

PARKS & RECREATION BOARD

  • Nine members appointed by the City Commission for 3-year terms
  • Members must be City residents
  • Advises Commission on parks development and recreational programs

PLANNING ADVISORY BOARD
The Planning Advisory Board consists of seven voting members appointed by the City Commission whose responsibility is to review and recommend approval or denial of various development applications.

  • Seven members appointed by the City Commission for 3-year terms
  • Members must be City residents
  • Assure development compliance with City’s Comprehensive Plan

POLICE PENSION BOARD

  • Two members appointed by the City Commission and three members chosen by employees for 2-year terms
  • Advise on management of Police Department employees’ pension program
