What is included with my solid waste service?
Your residential collection service includes garbage, yard waste and recycling once per week. Two additional yard waste collections per year are provided at no charge for larger tree trimming/landscaping projects performed by the resident. These two collections must be scheduled by calling 407.518.2507. Work performed by professional landscape contractors must be removed by the contractor (City Ordinance #10-1-10 F).
Please call 407.518.2507 for your collection days.
What type of container should I use?
Only use the containers provided by the City. All garbage must be placed inside your brown container, all yard waste placed inside the green container and all recycling placed inside the blue container. If you have additional garbage or yard waste which will not fit in your brown or green containers, $2.47 per bag and/or bundle will be charged.
When should I place my containers at the curb?
Containers must be placed curbside no later than 7:00 a.m. on the collection day to ensure pickup. Never rely on “usual” collection times to put your containers curbside. Routes are not always run by the same driver in the same order. Containers should be placed curbside no earlier than 6:00 p.m. the day prior to collection. Containers should be removed from the curb as soon as possible after collection, but no later than 8:00 a.m. the following day, or they will be subject to roll back service by City crews and a $8.05 convenience charge per container will be charged.
Where should I place my containers?
Place containers within three feet of the curb with the handle facing your home. Be sure to place your container at least four feet away from any other container, mailboxes, low hanging wires or trees or other obstructions.
How do I fill my containers?
To avoid damage to our trucks or your property, please follow these simple guidelines:
- Bag all household garbage and place in brown container.
- Keep lids closed. Items should not extend out of the containers.
- Cut long objects to fit inside the container.
- Do not place objects on the lid.
- Any item that will fit inside the container (small appliances, small furniture items, etc.) should be placed inside the container
- Do not place hazardous materials (paints, motor oil, household chemicals and electronics such as televisions and computers) inside any of your containers. These items may be taken to the Bass Road Resource/Recovery Facility located at 750 South Bass Road in Kissimmee or the St Cloud Transfer Station at 2701 Peghorn Way.
How can I dispose of large, bulky items such as furniture or large appliances?
Place large items at the curb (at least four feet away from any other objects) on your regular scheduled bulk collection day. Bulk collection will be picked up at a charge of $16.02 per cubic yard.
My container has been lost/damaged/stolen. What should I do?
To report damaged, lost or stolen containers, call 407.518.2507. A container technician will replace or repair containers.
Do you collect on holidays?
In order to allow our staff an opportunity to spend holidays with their families, there are certain holidays the City of Kissimmee does not provide collection. Those holidays include:
- Thanksgiving Day
- Christmas Day
- New Year’s Day
What is this tag attached to my container?
The tags are used by the drivers to help educate customers about the Collection Rules and may be used to notify customers of additional services and charges.
