The Planning Division’s Current Planning team oversees the administration of the Land Development Code and coordinates review of all land use and development proposals for the City. The development review process is centered around the Development Review Committee (DRC), which is managed by the Planning Division and staffed by various City departments and external agencies, including the Building Division, Fire, Police, Public Works and Engineering, Toho Water Authority, the Kissimmee Utility Authority, Osceola County Schools, the South Florida Water Management District, and the Kissimmee Gateway Airport. All applications are submitted to the Planning Division and are processed through DRC review.
Following DRC review, applications proceed to the Planning Advisory Board (PAB) and City Commission if public hearings are required, and/or to the construction plan review process if the application involves proposed construction. The Current Planning Team coordinates the site construction plan review process and provides technical and administrative support to the PAB, and to Board of Adjustments for variances.
