2017 CDBG Applications for Funding

The City of Kissimmee will receive approximately $553,874 in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds for Program Year 2017 from October 1, 2017 through September 30, 2018. The purpose of the CDBG Program is the development of viable urban communities by providing decent housing and a suitable living environment and expanding economic opportunities principally for persons of low/moderate income.  Eligible activities include public services, public facilities and improvements, housing, code enforcement, clearance and demolition, economic development, acquisition and disposition.  At least 70% of all CDBG funds must be expended on program activities that benefit low/moderate income persons.  Up to fifteen percent (15%), or approximately $83,081 may be utilized for public service activities.  Priority will  be given to applications from agencies that serve precariously housed and homeless individuals and families with housing and non-housing related assistance. In an effort to facilitate the process, all public service funding requests shall be for at least $20,000. Also, the City prefers agencies that have proven experience with CDBG funding, especially with meeting the income verification requirements as outlined by HUD, to apply for funds.

Applications for eligible projects and activities will be available for non-profit or government agencies anytime during regular business hours after January 30, 2017.  All applications can be picked up at the City of Kissimmee, Development Services Department office at 101 Church Street, Kissimmee, Florida, 34741.  All proposals are due no later than 5:00 p.m., February 24, 2017.

 All CDBG project applicants are required to attend a mandatory technical assistance workshop regarding the application process.   Please note that applications will not be accepted from agencies that have not attended the technical assistance workshop.  

The workshop for CDBG Projects will be held on Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the Kissimmee City Hall Commission Chambers, 101 Church Street, 1st floor, Kissimmee, Florida    34741-5054
