The City Attorney's Office acts as the legal representative of the City. The City Attorney and Deputy City Attorney are responsible for representing and advising the City Commission, all City departments, and City advisory boards with regards to the laws of the State and the City, which apply to them.
The office prepares and reviews legal documents for City use, including contracts, ordinances and resolutions. The office also assists with the development of City policies, employee and advisory board training and emergency management. The City Attorney's Office acts as a police legal advisor and pursues forfeiture actions on behalf of the City and represents the interests of the City in legal proceedings by filing and defending lawsuits on behalf of the City.
Olga Sanchez de Fuentes started in the City of Kissimmee in December 2014 as the Deputy City Attorney, and in October 2019, became the City Attorney. She is Florida Bar Board Certified in City, County, & Local Government Law. Sánchez de Fuentes supervises three employees, and her responsibilities include serving as the chief legal advisor to the City Commission, City Advisory Boards, and City staff. She is also the Attorney of Record in all civil suits and legal proceedings; prepares, reviews, and approves as to form and legality of City ordinances, resolutions, contracts, and other legal instruments. She attends regular and all special City Commission meetings.

Kalanit has been practicing municipal law for the past decade. Before becoming the Deputy City Attorney, she was an Assistant City Attorney in Melbourne. Kalanit earned her Bachelor’s degree from Rutgers University, a law degree from Tulane Law School and an LL.M from the University of Florida.
Assistant City Attorney
Celia Thacker Dorn started as the Assistant City Attorney for the City of Kissimmee in November 2015. She primarily serves as the Legal Advisor for the Kissimmee Police Department, but also assists the City Attorney’s Office on other issues when her help is requested. In addition, Mrs. Dorn facilitates the red light camera program.
