The Planning Division’s Current Planning team oversees the administration of the Land Development Code and coordinates review of all land use and development proposals for the City. The development review process is centered around the Development Review Committee (DRC), which is managed by the Planning Division and staffed by various City departments and external agencies. All applications are submitted to the Planning Division and are processed through DRC review.
Following DRC review, applications proceed to the Planning Advisory Board (PAB) and City Commission if public hearings are required, and/or to the construction plan review process. The Current Planning Team coordinates the site construction plan review process and provides technical and administrative support to the PAB, and to Board of Adjustments for variances.
Inquiries and Public Notice
The Current Planning team provides assistance to applicants, real estate and design professionals, businesses and the public regarding matters of planning, zoning, property use and development review. The team also coordinates the distribution of public notices and publication of advertisements announcing public hearings for applications involved in the development review process. Notices are generally mailed to all property owners within 300 feet of a proposed development or request involving a required public hearing at the Planning Advisory Board (PAB), Board of Adjustment (BOA), or City Commission.
