 June Summer Guide

Three easy ways to stay cool this summer in the City of Kissimmee.

Central Florida is one of the most visited places in the world because of our warm weather and world-class attractions. If you live here year-round, you may be thinking of the heat and humidity that comes with the season. Some people hide from it by staying indoors while others face it as a rite of passage. Whatever your feelings are on Central Florida summers we have three places that will help you stay cool this summer in the City of Kissimmee.

Bob Makinson Aquatic Center

If you’re looking for a pool-side escape that has something for the whole family look no further than the Bob Makinson Aquatic Center. This recently renovated venue provides a ton of amenities for a really good value. For only $5 per person, your family can fight the heat with the Aquatic Center’s super-soaked children’s play area, a 150-foot water slide, diving boards, and 25-yard swimming lanes. There are covered areas to sit, eat, and relax as well as a concession area that sells food and beverage options to keep you refreshed. Make a splash this summer by visiting the Bob Makinson Aquatic Center.

Shingle Creek Regional Park – Steffee Landing

You won’t believe that you’re in the heart of the hustle and bustle of Central Florida life when you step into Shingle Creek Regional Park. This seemingly untouched part of “old Florida” will give you a quiet break in the middle of your summer plans. Shingle Creek Regional Park runs along Shingle Creek and has several locations within the City of Kissimmee and Osceola County. We recommend that you try the Steffee Landing location as a perfect way to shield yourself from the summer heat. Enjoy the nature around you on multi-terrain paths under a thick forested canopy. This location boasts easy access to the Shingle Creek Regional Trail as well as to kayak and canoe rentals. For an attraction off the beaten path try Shingle Creek Regional Park– Steffee Landing.

KUA Cumbie Canine Court

Central Florida summers are not just hot for us, they’re hot for our dogs as well. Treat your canine friend to a shaded, creek-side adventure at the KUA Cumbie Canine Court. This unique dog park was created in partnership with Kissimmee Utility Authority and the City of Kissimmee and is situated on an island inside Mill Slough Park. Large oak trees create a cool, dense protection for you and your pet from the sun as you enjoy the 6.3 acres the park has to offer. Inside the park are separate fenced areas for large and small dogs, benches, picnic tables, drinking fountains with attached pet fountains, and separate receptacles for trash and pet waste. This dog park is also the only one in Osceola County with an agility course to provide an extra activity for you and your furry friend to enjoy. Stay cool this summer underneath the tree shaded escape of the KUA Cumbie Canine Court.
