City to Celebrate Women’s History Month
The City of Kissimmee is proud to celebrate Women’s History Month to highlight the contributions of women in our community and the nation. It is held during the month of March to present women’s achievements in history and society. To kick-off Women’s History Month, the City will host a reception on Tuesday, March 6 at Kissimmee City Hall starting at 5:00 p.m. This event will gather community leaders that make a positive impact.
Women's Day started after thousands of women rallied for equal and economic rights in the 1900’s. It wasn’t until 1987 that women’s history became a month-long celebration that not only spread in the United States, but also around the world. Today, more women are in the workforce than ever before, including areas such as aviation, mechanics, and law enforcement. Women in American history have made a statement of pride, courage, and empowerment, making a change in every aspect of society.
An opportunity to celebrate
Join us for the Women’s History Month Reception this upcoming Tuesday as we acknowledge residents who have made a difference in our community. Local leaders will be present at this event along with an art exhibition and music from local artists.
