    The City of Kissimmee will celebrate Earth Day 2016 with a lake and park clean-up event. City commissioners, volunteer staff members and partners from the Health Department of Osceola County will come together to clean up litter and debris in our community. A clean and healthy city is an important priority for the entire City Commission and staff.

    City of Kissimmee Seeking Umpires for 2016 Softball League

    The City of Kissimmee Parks & Recreation Department is seeking Umpires for the 2016 softball season, with games taking place at the Fortune Road Athletic Complex. Compensation for umpires will be $20.00 dollars per game with a two-man crew and $24.00 dollars per game when umpiring alone.

    The City of Kissimmee Parks & Recreation Department is seeking women’s, men’s and co-ed softball teams for the 2016 Adult Spring Softball Season, which begins the week of April 25, 2016. They are also seeking men’s softball teams for the 2016 Adult Spring Softball Tournament which will take place April 23 -24, 2016.

    The Bob Makinson Aquatic Center was recently awarded the prestigious “Gold International Aquatic Safety Award.” The lifeguards at the aquatic center consistently exceeded Jeff Ellis and Associates criteria throughout the 2015 year.

    The City of Kissimmee is seeking input from citizens to help determine park and recreation priorities for the 110-acre Lancaster Ranch site. The Recreation Master Plan will be a community based plan that will provide conceptual programming needs, facility locations, funding opportunities and implementation recommendations.

    The City of Kissimmee announces that Church Street between Dakin Avenue and Monument Avenue will be closed for the City’s Employee Memorial Service on Friday, March 25 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Detour signs will be in place to direct traffic to alternate routes.

    More than 200 volunteers from American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, City of Kissimmee, Community Vision, Central Avenue Elementary, organizers from KaBOOM! and the community will join forces on Tuesday, March 1, to give area kids the childhood they deserve by building a new playground at Central Avenue Elementary School.

    The City of Kissimmee announces the availability of funds for Program Year 2016-2017 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Public Service projects. There is $83,081 in funding available for this upcoming fiscal year. The funds may be used for various public service activities that principally benefit low- and moderate-income persons.
