The Kissimmee Police Department's Marine Unit is responsible for patrolling Lake Tohopekaliga, assisting disabled vessels and search and rescue. The Department has two vessels. A 20' Sea Craft center console patrol/rescue boat and a 19' Pathfinder patrol/rescue boat. The boats are fully outfitted with all necessary safety and rescue equipment including fire extinguishers, life jackets, throw rings, tow lines first aid kits, marine radio, police radio, electronics, CPS, radar and emergency lighting.
The Marine Unit consists of 1 Lieutenant, 1 Sergeant and eight (8) Officers and is supervised by a Captain. All members are all fully trained and certified in boating safety. The Marine Unit is considered a secondary assignment and is made up of members from several divisions within the Kissimmee Police Department.
The members of the Marine Unit are proud to be building partnerships with the boating community and businesses along the Kissimmee Lakefront. The goal is to maintain Lake Tohopekaliga as a beautiful, fun and safe place for all recreational boaters to spend time with family and friends.
