The City of Kissimmee has established an account at SunTrust Bank for the families of Kissimmee Police Officer Matthew Baxter & Sergeant Sam Howard, who were fatally shot in the line of duty on Friday, August 18, 2017.

Mayor Alvarez worked for the Florida Department of Transportation for the Road & Bridge Engineering Department before relocating to Central Florida in 1997.  In 2000, he became a REALTOR and in 2006, became a Real Estate Broker.  He is the owner of One Way Realty, Inc.

Mayor Alvarez has worked with legislators for more than 10 years to help protect Home Ownership Rights and make home ownership affordable, while serving on the Board of Directors for the Florida Realtors Association for six years.  He has served on the Fair Housing Board and as alternate on City of Kissimmee Code Enforcement Board.  In 2007, he was awarded Fair Housing Director for LULAC (League of United Latin American Citizens.)

Jose was born in Havana, Cuba and came to the United States in 1971 as a child. He grew up in Miami where he started a family. He has been married to his loving wife, Darlene for 25 years and has five daughters and two grandsons.
