Kissimmee Commission Goals for 2005-2006

The Kissimmee City Commission meets in January for an annual retreat to determine the City's priorities for the fiscal year. These priorities will help City staff to develop a budget, which will be approved by the Commisssion in September for the start of the next fiscal year on October 1. The following is a list of the Commission's priorities for Fiscal Year 2005-2006.

Top Priorities
1. 192 Redevelopment Plan -  Pursue market analysis and identify strategy to attract new business to the  U.S. 192 corridor.
2. North Kissimmee Safety -  Increase crime prevention and code enforcement in North Kissimmee neighborhood. 
3. Hoagland Plan and Funding - Realign and widen Hoagland Boulevard to  serve as a major entrance to Kissimmee Gateway Airport and as a reliever for John Young Parkway.
4. Lakefront Redevelopment -  Pursue design competition with selected developers to enhance lakefront park, create new residential and retail opportunities, and establish an improved link between the lakefront and downtown area.
5. Annexation Strategy - Eliminate enclaves and annex additional urbanized areas into the City limits.

High Priorities
1. Number of Residents in Dwelling Units -  Strategy to enforce code regarding the limitation on the number of people  permitted to occupy a single dwelling unit.  
2. Beaumont Redevelopment - Work with Osceola County to  encourage redevelopment of  the Beaumont property and get it back on the tax rolls.
3. Osceola Center for the Arts - Locate additional sources of funding and  pursue  relocation  to downtown Kissimmee.
4. Joint Services/Consolidation Analysis - Continue to increase the efficiency of services through partnerships with other local governmental agencies.
5. Lynx Funding -  Identify and evaluate dedicated sources of funding for mass transportation.
