Learn-To-Swim Classes
Swim Lessons are available for all ages and skill levels during the summer season. Classes are 35 minutes in length. Due to the unpredictability of weather, the Aquatic Center guarantees a minimum of six classes. Make-up classes will be conducted ONLY if more than two classes are cancelled. Once registered for a class, there will be a 50% cancelation fee for each canceled class, and an additional pro-rated charge will be assessed for classes already taken. In the case of illness, a full or pro-rated refund will be give at any time with a doctor’s note.
Proof of residence required at registration. The following class levels are available:
Toddler Series:
- Starfish: Provides water adjustment, swimming readiness skills, & water safety knowledge while accompanied by a parent. Ages 6 months - two years.
- Seahorse: Provides water adjustment, swimming readiness skills, supported float, and supported kick. Children need to be accompanied by a parent. Ages two - three.
Youth Series:
To complete these levels, participants must demonstrate the following skills:
- Turtles: Water entry and exit, supported float, supported kick, supported alternating arm action, and submerging head. Ages three - five.
- Seals: Retrieve objects underwater, front/back glide, flutter kick, basic rhythmic breathing, & front crawl/back crawl arm action unsupported 10 feet. Ages five & older.
- Dolphins: Retrieve objects underwater with eyes open, beginning dives, treading water, changing direction, butterfly kick, and 15 yards of front crawl, back crawl, elementary back stroke. Ages six & older.
- Sharks: Deep water bobbing, rotary breathing, diving from poolside, flip turns, butterfly, and refinement of front crawl, back stroke, breaststroke (25 yards). Ages seven & older.
- Adult: Learn basic swim strokes and develop security in the water. Instruction will be modified for each participant. All ability levels welcome. Ages 15 & older. (7:00 p.m. class only)
