Zebra Coalition Joins PrideFest Kissimmee
The City of Kissimmee is announcing its partnership with the Zebra Coalition, who will serve as the City’s official advocacy partner, for PrideFest Kissimmee, which is being presented by Telemundo Orlando.
"We are honored to have such an esteemed and highly recognized organization participate in PrideFest Kissimmee”, said Mayor Jose Alvarez. “It’s organizations such as the Zebra Coalition that support members of our community so they can grow up feeling confident and safe”.
The Zebra Coalition, a nationally awarded and recognized advocacy organization, strives to foster hope, dignity, and self-respect in lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender youth. The Zebra Coalition’s support is far reaching, and includes housing and support services, a drop-in center, community outreach, and LGBT+ cultural competency training.
Heather Wilkie, Director of Zebra Coalition, added that the “Zebra Coalition is honored to partner with PrideFest Kissimmee in their inaugural year to bring together community members to create a positive and welcoming environment and to celebrate the cultural diversity of the City of Kissimmee.”
During PrideFest Kissimmee the Zebra Coalition will voluntarily staff a concession stand, in which all earnings will be donated back to the Zebra Coalition. PrideFest Kissimmee will be held on June 10, 2017, at Kissimmee Lakefront Park from noon to 5 p.m., and will feature live music and entertainment, food trucks, an exhibitor and merchandisers marketplace, advocacy and support organizations, and a Pulse Nightclub memorial service.
